Stormworks has a variety of equipment, including outfits, tools, weapons, and gadgets with a wide variety of uses. Players have 8 small equipment slots, 1 large equipment slot, and 1 outfit slot. Carrying equipment reduces move speed in proportion to its weight.
A lot of equipment is battery-operated and can be recharged by putting it back into an equipment rack which has power available; some non-battery operated equipment also can be replenished when put into a powered equipment rack, like oxygen masks.
Small Equipment[]
Small equipment fits into a 1x1 equipment rack. Players can carry eight items of small equipment at a time.
- Flashlight: Replaced the pre-1.0 Headlamp. Battery-powered, shines a cone of light ahead of you. Recharges slowly in a powered locker.
- Binoculars: Allows you to zoom in further. Doesn't use power or require charging.
- First Aid Kit: Heals you, other players, or NPCs. Maximum (also default) stack of 4, consumable. Each use restores about half of a full health bar for a player or NPC, or a full health bar for a Stormwoof.
- Night Vision Binoculars: Battery-powered, allows you to zoom in with night vision. Does not allow regular vision.
- Oxygen Mask: Allows you to breathe in an environment without oxygen or excessive CO2, but much more limited capacity than SCUBA or diving gear. It offers 10 breaths, approximately enough for two minutes. Left click needed to breathe. Quickly refills when in a powered locker.
- Compass: Has two needles, the white points south, the red points north. Doesn't use power or require charging. Shows you what bearing you are facing in degrees shown above the compass' position in the equipment slot where it was placed.
- Radio: Battery-powered; can be used to chat with other players on the same channel (limited to channels 0-8) with a maximum effective range of 500 meters. Can also be used to signal vehicles with speakers (which produce an on/off output when receiving voice data from a linked radio channel), allowing for limited radio control.
- Remote Control Unit: Battery-powered; allows you to remotely control a vehicle (as long as you set it up correctly). Limited to using radio channels 0-8, and an effective range of up to 500 meters.
- Glowstick: Provides hands-free illumination, works underwater. Lasts for somewhere between 25-30 minutes. Maximum (also default) stack of 12.
- Flare: Allows you to throw a road flare, provides very bright hands-free illumination, works underwater. Lasts for five minutes. Maximum (also default) stack of 4, consumable.
- Flare Gun Ammo: Maximum (also default) stack of 4. Used for reloading the Flare Gun. Can be refilled by unloading the Flare Gun, consumable.
- Flare Gun: Fires a flare in the direction you are facing (usually with an angle limit), contains one flare by default. Can be unloaded to refill Flare Gun Ammo (if you have it equipped).
- Transponder: Battery-powered, transmits a transponder signal, can be switched to MOB mode to activate automatically in water, has a battery meter
- Strobe Light: Battery-powered, model identical to transponder, flashes a strobe light when turned on, has a battery meter. Can be set to MOB (man overboard) mode like the transponder.
- Strobe Light (IR): Model identical to transponder, flashes a strobe light in IR when turned on, has a battery meter. Can be set to MOB mode like the regular strobe light and transponder.
- Radiation Detector: A small battery-operated Geiger counter.
