Overview[ | ]

The Sawyer Islands is a large group of islands situated in the center of the map in Stormworks. They are often referred to as "The Main Island(s)" or "The Big Island(s)" by players. The Sawyer Islands are the oldest landmass in the game, predating the Arctic and Arid Island. The Sawyer Islands contain numerous landmarks and structures, all connected by roads, and many connected by rails. All the islands are roughly temperate in climate, with forests, plains, hills, and mountains.

The Sawyer Islands are covered in roads and rails, allowing for the use of land vehicles to get around the island. The roads connect all structures on the island, but cannot be used to leave the islands. The rails, however, do not connect all structures on the island, only a few, but can be used to leave the island, with rail bridges to the Isle of Donkk, the Arctic, and the Arid Island. To get over the waterways, the roads and railways use bridges, some of which are built especially high to let boats pass underneath, but most of which are lower in height, instead being drawbridges that can open up to allow boats to pass. They will not open on their own, and have to be operated from the operator rooms on either side of the bridge.

SawyerIslands

A map of the Sawyer Islands

There are six main islands in total and numerous minor islands. They are all separated by rivers and lakes, it is therefore debatable if they are multiple different islands, or one large island. It is, however, mostly agreed that they are called "The Sawyer Islands".

  • The largest island covers almost en entire east side of the Sawyer Islands, and is largely hilly, with a few forested areas.
  • The second largest island is situated to the west of the largest one, with Mount Goldblum being it's defining feature. It is largely mountainous, but has some flatter areas and forests.
  • The major southern island is surrounded mostly by steep mountains, and is made up of hills and forests.
  • The two islands in the southeast are similar in size and composition, being made up of hills and mountains with forests at their bases, and flatter plains nearer to the coastline.
  • The northwest island has mild hills in it's center, but is mostly made up of flatter plains and forests.

Landmarks and Structures[ | ]

The Sawyer Islands have numerous landmarks and structures that can be important destinations, or used to navigate around the islands. The landmarks are all marked by a cross symbol on the map, whereas the structures are marked by icons that represent their use (gantries are represented by a crane, airfields by a plane, etc.).

MtGoldblum&WhiteSound

  • Mount Goldblum is the defining feature of the islands, being visible from all over them, with it's large plume of smoke rising above the other mountains around it
  • Mount Toddy is an especially tall mountain, found on the southwest-most island.
  • North Harbor is a stretch of coastline on the north of the largest island . It is home to Sawyer North Freight Terminal.
  • Olsen Bay is a bay on the northwest island, home to a small hamlet and a diesel gantry
  • White Sound is a shallower portion of the waterway between Mount Goldblum and the major southern island, topping off at around six meters in depth, compared to the rest of the waterways which vary between 10 meters and 30 meters in depth.

SawyerNorthFreightTerminal

Sawyer North Freight Terminal, on the north of the largest island

  • Dean Hall Mining Company is found on a mountain on the second largest island, many ore deposits can be found here. It has an improvised road connection to the rest of the islands. Vehicles can't be made here.
  • The Fishing Village is a town on the south of the largest island, home to a hospital and a diesel gantry. It has road connections, and is very close to Sawyer South Freight Terminal
  • Harrison Airbase is an airstrip with a hangar on the northwest island with road connections, costing $80000 to unlock. It allows the construction of ground and air vehicles.
  • Holt Town is a small village with a harbor and a hospital, found southwest of Sawyer North Freight Terminal. It is home to a diesel gantry.
  • Lighthouse Frantic is situated on a small island to the south of the Sawyer Islands, it marks the entrance to the waterways that go through the islands.
  • ON'iell Airbase is an airstrip with a hangar on the largest island, with a road connection and a nearby rail terminal. The hangar allows construction of ground and air vehicles, but the rail terminal does not allow the construction of vehicles. There is a coal gantry in the rail terminal.
  • Sawyer North Freight Terminal is a harbor with road and rail connections on the north of the largest island. Cargo containers can be found here. It costs $60000 to unlock. It allows the construction of ships on the water and trains in the train sheds.
  • Sawyer South Freight Terminal is a harbor with a road connection on the south of the largest island. Cargo containers can be found here, and ships can be built in the water. It is also home to a diesel gantry.
  • The Unnamed Lighthouse is situated on a small island to the north of the Sawyer Islands, serving a similar purpose to Lighthouse Frantic.
  • The Wind Farm is a forested hill found on the largest island, covered in wind turbines that all have road connections. Vehicles can't be made here.
