Center of Mass [ edit page ]
The center of mass is important when building vehicles. It has impact on the stability and control of vehicles.
Cars, trucks and ships with a high center of mass are more likely to turn upside down or turn to one side.
Watercraft with a COM that is under their COB (Center of Buoyancy) have a greater chance of being self-righting.
Helicopters will become harder to control when the center of mass is not the same point as the COT (Center of Thrust)
Planes will be more stable but less maneuverable the more the COM is behind the COL (Center of Lift) If the COM is in front of the COL then the craft becomes aerodynamically unstable. (Small differences can be fixed by adjusting the trim.)
