Fuels are used in engines to generate mechanical power. There are four different types of fuel: diesel, jet fuel, coal, and nuclear fuel rods.
Diesel[ | ]
Diesel fuel is used by Diesel Engines.
In career mode, when vehicles are spawned in with diesel fuel in fuel tanks or cargo holds, a cost of $1/L is charged. The same amount is refunded for any vehicle which is despawned.
Jet fuel[ | ]
Jet fuel is used by jet combustion chambers in jet engines.
In career mode, when vehicles are spawned in with jet fuel in fuel tanks or cargo holds, a cost of $4/L is charged. The same amount is refunded for any vehicle which is despawned.
Note that jet engines tend to use less fuel than diesel engines to generate the same force, though jet fuel is more expensive.
Coal[ | ]
Coal is used by fireboxes in steam engines.
In career mode, when vehicles are spawned with coal in their coal hoppers, a cost of $1/unit is charged. Note that vehicles with coal which are despawned will not be refunded for the unused coal.
Coal can also be purchased at the Sawyer Islands' Dean Hall Mining Company (about 3 km south of the North Harbor base by road) or at the Donkk Island coal mine (near Terminal Spycakes). It is generally bought for $1.5-2/unit. It can be sold for around $4-5 at Terminal Camodo or at the railway station near O'Neill Airbase. Alternatively, it can be sold for about $37-38/unit at Terminal Trinite in the arctic.
